Millions of people in Poland witnessed the moment Hope saw his mother for the first time and all were in tears.
I have known David for over a decade and have only seen him cry once.
When I picked up Hope to take him to his mother waiting for him under the mango tree, I saw David cry a second time.

Hope's mother was only 15 years old when she gave birth to Hope, She herself was just a teenage girl.
Hope's father was almost 50 years old at the time and was the head of the village.
It's definitely not an equal relationship. Unfortunately, it is very common for men in rural areas to marry any young girl they wanted to be their wife.
During her pregnancy, Hope's mother had to take care of her parents, both of whom were seriously ill. After giving birth to Hope, both passed away.
When she was 15 years old, Hope's mother lost her parents and had to take care of Hope herself as a child.
She named her child Steven. Hope's real name is Steven.
Hope's mother remained in the Land of Hope and developed a close relationship with Hope.
It took a while for him to forgive her but in Hope's story, her mother is innocent. She never let him die in the village.
She was forced to leave the village when she became pregnant with Daniel, Hope's younger brother, when she was only 16 years old. She was sent to Lagos and this whole story involves rape, child labor and abuse, so I cannot reveal all the details. It is important that Hope and her mother are reunited.

When I was pregnant with our son, David suggested we name him Steven.
According to Anja, Hope was found by her and the danish aid team in 2016, wandering on the streets of Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria, after being stigmatized a witch by his family.
