Dwamena, aged 28, collapsed on the pitch during a league match in Albania while playing for Egnatia against Partizani.

Despite immediate medical attention, he couldn't be revived, leaving the Albanian Football Federation (AFL) and the football community in shock.

Having started his career as a youth player at Red Bull Salzburg, Dwamena's journey encompassed stints at FC Zurich, Levante, and Real Zaragoza.

He was a prominent figure in the Albanian league, leading the scoring charts with nine goals before his untimely passing.

His impact extended beyond club football; Dwamena earned nine caps for his country, Ghana, netting two goals and representing his nation with distinction.

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) conveyed heartfelt condolences, recognizing Dwamena's exemplary service and character while representing Ghana.

GFA President Kurt Edwin Simeon Okraku highlighted Dwamena's contributions and expressed solidarity with his family during this difficult period.

Dwamena's career faced challenges, notably a failed transfer to Brighton in 2017 due to medical reasons.

Despite setbacks, he continued to pursue his passion for the sport, playing for Levante in La Liga and also undertaking a loan spell at Real Zaragoza.

The footballer previously encountered a health scare in 2021 during a match in Austria, experiencing a collapse, which led to a heart operation and the implantation of an automatic defibrillator.

Despite these challenges, he persevered and continued his playing career.

Tributes poured in from his former clubs, with Levante acknowledging Dwamena's legacy and expressing condolences to his family, while Real Zaragoza remembered him as a cherished part of their history.

Raphael Dwamena's untimely passing has deeply impacted the global football community, leaving behind a legacy of dedication, resilience, and a passion for the beautiful game that will be remembered by fans, teammates, and all those who were touched by his presence on and off the field.
