COMIC ACTOR MR IBU'S LEG AMPUTATED DUE TO SEVERE ILLNESS

The family of renowned comic actor John Okafor, popularly known as Mr Ibu, has announced a distressing development regarding his health. 

They revealed that, for medical reasons, doctors had to amputate one of his legs to save his life. In an official statement posted on his Instagram page, his relatives disclosed the challenging decision that had to be made, and they have accepted this as his new reality.

While the family has not disclosed the exact cause of Mr Ibu's illness that led to the leg amputation, they did provide an update on his medical condition. 

The statement mentioned that the 62-year-old actor has already undergone seven rounds of surgery, with one more surgery still ahead.

Reports from the media indicate that some of Mr Ibu's medical expenses have been covered by former Senate President Bukola Saraki.

 The actor's family is now appealing to his fans and well-wishers for assistance in covering the remaining medical expenses. However, they have not specified the amount required.

It's worth noting that appeals for financial assistance from Nollywood actors are not uncommon. This has raised questions about why actors, despite their apparent success, sometimes struggle to afford their own medical bills.

In Nigeria, most people rely on private medical care, which can be costly. The film industry insiders explain that pay rates in Nollywood can vary widely, with top actors earning substantial amounts, while smaller roles may go unpaid.
